FAQ

Q: I have glass damage, will my vehicle pass inspection?

A: Inspection stations are supposed to reject a vehicle if there is 1) a crack in the windshield beyond 3″ in length within the driver’s vision area OR 2) any unrepaired star breaks, bull’s-eyes, half moons, stone nicks or chips larger than 2″ in diameter at any area outside of the driver’s vision area of the windshield OR 3) if there is any outright breakage present at any location of the windshield.  The driver’s vision area is within the normal sweep of the windshield wipers 4″ from the bottom of the windshield.

For more details on what is legal and whether your vehicle will pass inspection, visit the State of Missouri’s Motor Vehicle Safety Inspection Regulations and the State of Missouri Secretary of State Rules of Public Safety section CSR 50-2.270

Q: What size rock chip can be repaired?

A: In most cases we can repair a chip if it is smaller than a quarter. Our highly trained technicians will be able to let you know if it is repairable or if a new windshield is the safer option.

 Q. Will I be able to see the chip after it’s repaired?
A. YES, Once repaired, most chips will be less noticable after the repair, but you will most likely still be able to see the outline. Some chips repairs look better than others. The sooner a chip is repaired after the damage has occurred improves the chances of a cleaner repair, but other factors like the size of the impact, how much glass was crushed on impact and what area of the windshield is damaged will effect how the chip looks once it is repaired.

Q: How long will it take to replace my windshield?

A: Most installations take an hour, some could take longer depending on the make & model. When making the appointment we will advise you on the time it will take to complete the installation properly.

Q: When can I wash my vehicle after my glass has been replaced.

A: It is best to wait 48 hours before going to any high pressure car wash after a new windshield or back glass has been replaced. The high pressure from the car wash can damage the outer seal and/or the urethane that holds the glass in place until it has had proper time to cure.

Q: Will you remove any stickers (inspection, Military, oil change, etc.) on my windshield.

A: We do not transfer inspection stickers. The next time your car is inspected they will put a new sticker on at the inspection station.  Your prior inspection is to be kept with your registration in the vehicle should you need it.  Military stickers are not made to be removed, we will remove it and return it to you on the back of your receipt as they usually fall apart when we try to remove them. Oil change stickers are transferred to the new windshield.

Q: Will my insurance cover the replacement/repair of my automotive glass?

A: As long as you carry comprehensive insurance on your vehicle, most insurance companies will waive your deductible for a rock chip repair.

Replacement of any glass on your vehicle when going through insurance is subject to your comprehensive deductible. We have very knowledgeable customer service representatives that will help you file a claim with your insurance company. We will need your policy number that can be found on your proof of insurance card.

Q: Can I choose what glass company repairs my windshield when I am going through insurance?

A: YES! Many states have strict rules against what is known as repair shop “steering” and do not allow insurers to tell consumers where to have repairs done.  It is absolutely your choice to choose who repairs/replaces your glass.

Q: Will filing a glass claim make my insurance premium go up?

A: In our experience, comprehensive claims do not make your rates go up. Comprehensive claims are considered no fault of your own so they shouldn’t cause any rate increase. It is a good idea to contact your agent or check your policy to be sure.
